About the author

Jennifer Flegel, MSN, FNP-BC, APNP

Jennifer is a hospice nurse practitioner and author with more than 16 years of hospice experience, progressing from registered nurse to nurse practitioner.

Her work spans the entire hospice journey—from admission and care planning through symptom management, the final stages of life, and family support. Throughout her career, Jennifer heard the same questions from families and saw how often important education arrived only during a crisis.

She created The Hospice Companion for hospice organizations to complement and strengthen their existing family education. Her mission is to bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and family understanding, helping people navigate end-of-life care with greater confidence, comfort, and dignity.

“No family should have to navigate the hospice journey feeling alone in the unknown.”
